The Second best day in my life

Posted by Schwarzschild at 3:04:24 PM in Kirk Kara (30)

The day when my husband proposed to me twenty-five years ago was the second best day of my life. I knew he’d be proposing that day, but I kept my silence thinking it would be fun to see him nervously spill out his emotions (and some sweat with it). It’s a simple proposal; we’re in a quaint pizzeria and as soon as we were finished with dinner, he took out a small box, while I pretended to be nervous. Then he opened it, and there’s a Kirk Kara inside. I didn’t know he’d go to lengths to give me a truly luxurious ring, but there it was staring at me, the precious minute diamonds of Kirk Kara. This caught me off guard, and soon enough, he was the one having a fun time teasing me, while I stiffened up and tried to hide my quiet sobs and looking foolishly like a child given a candy. It was the second best day of my life, indeed. All the rest with him after marriage, I say, they’re the best.

The New Breitling is in town

Posted by Schwarzschild at 3:01:50 PM in Breitling (27)

The pilot’s favorite watch is back with a new collection line: the Breitling Aerospace EVO, one of the signature brand’s prominent models for flight professionals. It features Breitling’s electronic multifunction chronograph with a new twist and more add-ons. Its SuperQuarts movement is ten times more accurate than regular quartz, making this piece an authentic time-keeper of flight schedules. Pilots rely on its precision functions, such as the chronograph that can slice time up to 1/100th of a second; second time-zone; audible time signal; and a useful NVG-compatible display backlighting apparatus. Equally impressive as its professional functions, the sleek fashion design of the EVO is engraved with bezel and the hands and numerals redesigned and encase in a beveled glass. The EVO is classy while keeping a rugged look. Wear it with the crocodile leather strap and the aviator becomes an impressive, sophisticated creature of the air.

Love awaits you

Posted by Schwarzschild at 3:00:28 PM in John Hardy (29)

It’s not really the value of the precious stone set in the jewelry that makes it special. Nor is it the price of the material used such as platinum, gold and sterling that reflects the piece like a ring, bracelet or necklace. It’s the rarity that counts most that sets the jewelry a cut above the rest. Like John Hardy’s Cinta, Indonesian for “love.” It’s truly a work of love expressed in detailed design from 18k gold, set with pink sapphires and diamonds and framed by two Nagas set. Each piece is uniquely made, an obra of a master jewelry craftsman. The Cinta collection is an offshoot of John Hardy’s quest to gift his wife with a piece that is one-of-its-kind. Soon, that gift would spawn a whole line of handcrafted designs with no two pieces alike. Each Cinta  awaits to find its lover. Will that be you?

Some more proposal tips

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:59:02 PM in Hearts on Fire (30)

Are you planning a proposal? Most proposals come in surprises. First, find out if your partner wants the proposal to happen in public or private. Some women want a public proposal, while some wish to keep it in the comfort of just the two of you cozy in a corner. Second, arrange and prepare all the necessary stuff. Nothing beats enough preparation. Call the right people to help you out. Also don’t forget to tell her parents about your plan. You’re being traditionally charming if you get their blessing. Moreover, memorize your climatic line. Go beyond, “Will you marry me?” Be creative or poetic. But don’t push it; sometimes it’s also best to just say how you feel it. After all, proposal is all about spilling your emotions to her. It’s a memorable day for you and her, and to make it even more special, give her a Hearts on Fire diamond ring.

How to choose the right Baume & Mercier

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:57:26 PM in Baume & Mercier (23)

Finding your ideal Baume & Mercier watch can be complicated given the signature’s numerous impressive collections. But you can take it one step at a time and you’ll be rewarded with just the right Baume & Mercier. The obvious starting point, of course, is the wearer’s sex: is it a lady or a gent? Next, think which shape you want—a square or round casing? A round shape is more traditional and flexible to match with almost any outfit, while a square casing reflects a serious tone. You should also think about the overall material of the watch, if it’s steel, gold, two-tone or with diamonds. Steel is classy. Some of the top steel lines include Capeland, Clifton, Classima and Linea. Two-tone and diamonds work best for ladies. It exudes glamour and sexiness to the timepiece. Gold is classic and projects authority. You should also bear in mind if you want the watch automatic, manual or quartz. Lastly, think of the function details, such as date, chronograph, dual time, moon phase and others.

Nicky in a Ducati

How is it to be hitting 300 kilometers per hour on a bike along with other racers? Nicky Hayden should know. The MotoGP World Championship rider has been racing competitively since, well, four according to his father. But his professional racing actually got its first kick after winning the Dirt Track Grand National Championship when he was 18 and eventually capping it when he won the 2006 MotoGPTM World Championship. It’s no surprise that Nick Hayden is one of Tissot’s ambassadors, the epitome of grit, passion, drive and sports competitiveness that the luxury Swiss brand represents. To honor the Nick Hayden spirit, Tissot has released a limited edition, the Tissot-T-Race Nicky Hayden Limited Edition 2013.  It is at once spirited, sporty and sleek as a speeding Nicky in a Ducati, so to speak.

The Legacy of Ball Watch

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:48:44 PM in Ball (25)

Ball Watch timepieces are renowned for their accuracy, which carry the legacy of its founder, Webster Clay Ball. Ball was commissioned by railroad officials to be the Chief Time Inspector after a railroad mishap called for better timekeeping. Ball demanded stricter guidelines such as timepieces that resist magnetism, rely on five positions for a more accurate time and isochronism, feature power reserve and with easy-to-read dial placements. The same strict guidelines are still being practiced in creating each Ball watch today, such as Engineer I and II, Engineer Hydrocarbon, Trainmaster, Conductor and Fireman. But Ball watches are not only for trains; the Aviator is clearly targeted to pilots, who like train engineers, demand time accuracy as a matter of life and death. When you wear a Ball watch, you have on your wrist one of the most accurate timekeepers.

Vows for Life

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:43:53 PM in Suna Brothers (22)

A wedding vow is your sacred promise that you’ll love your partner for the rest of your life whatever it takes. So why not get into details and make a unique and memorable vow that both of you will be laughing about in old age? Tell her that you vow not to laugh at her when she trips at the doorstep. You vow to like her bruschetta like crazy even if you don’t. You vow not to get mad at her even if she crashes the car in the garage. You vow not to fantasize about Miley Cyrus and, in fact, you find her videos repulsive (do your best to make a straight face here). Lastly, you vow to give her the best in life that you can, starting with that Suna Bros wedding ring.

How Not to Bungle the Bangles

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:42:31 PM in Slane (22)

Slane offers a wide array of sterling silver bracelets that suit a formal and casual occasion. An ordinary dress can turn glamorous with a simple addition of a Slane Column sterling silver bracelet, or a glamorous black outfit can even get more glamorous with a Slane Column Stackable set of five. Whether it’s a special day or every day, wearing Slane bracelets is impressive enough with these simple tips. Wear bangles and stacks on functions, dinners or parties only. Stacks are inappropriate at work or business meetings. Likewise, make sure the bracelet fits right; not to large that it can slide off your wrist or up your arms, nor too tight that it looks frigid on your wrist. Size up the bangles. Don’t combine small bangles with large ones. Also stay in the safe color side. Sterling silver is perfect with neutral and soft tones, but they can also work well with the darker shades of red and blue.

Caring for Ceramic Knife

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:40:57 PM in Swiss Army (24)

Ceramic knives are popular among celebrity chefs for their sharpness and, need we say, glamor appeal? The blade is extremely sharp and lasts longer than steel knives. But it can easily break when dropped or put in high heat. Generally, ceramic knives are best to cut vegetables and soft meat. In the hands of a master chef, a ceramic knife can make cutting wonders. Here are a few care tips from Swiss Army—it’s also a top brand for cutlery—to make sure your ceramic knife lasts longer. Use the ceramic knife for cutting only; it’s not intended for hitting or levering. Use wood or plastic as cutting surfaces to ensure the blade stays sharp longer. Clean the blade with mild detergent; don’t use wire brush. If you’re using the dishwasher make sure the knife won’t get in contact with other objects. Follow these tips and your Swiss Army ceramic knife will last a lifetime.

Animalistic Elegance

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:39:14 PM in Roberto Coin (29)

Roberto Coin is known to create unique jewelry masterpieces that are outright creative, if not provocative. One piece that is undeniably a talk of the town is the Animalier Ring. Set in 18k white gold with blue sapphires, tsavorites and diamonds, this ring is crafted to the semblance of a chameleon. Gemstones are randomly spread across the animal’s body of white gold to depict a color-changing characteristic. The wide eyes are filled with small diamond studs and accented by a blue sapphire. The twisting band wraps around the finger securely with a tease. Wearing the Animalier Ring lends a glamour and creative sophistication to, not only your hand, but your overall aura. Yet again only Roberto Coin can tame an otherwise scandalous artistic take into something elegant and alluring.

Pearl as a Pendant

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:33:32 PM in Mikimoto (30)

A strand of Mikimoto pearls is often gawked at in parties and functions. The pearls’ unblemished surface and radiance that comes from within cannot fail to elicit attention. Equally impressive as a string of Mikimoto pearls is wearing a single pearl of this signature as a pendant. Set in silver or white and yellow gold chain, a Mikimoto pearl pendant is classic. You can wear the Black South Sea pendant with a diamond accent and impress other guests. For an added twist, literally, the Twist Pendant Rose Gold is elegantly crafted by deft hands. The gold wraps itself around the pearl, lending a sensual aura to this necklace. On the other hand, the Zen Black South Sea pendant is creative and provocative. Instead of putting the pendant at the center, the pearl is set along the chain as if to tease the curious eye. Mikimoto has more single pearl pendants in its collection.

Bold and Daring

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:32:14 PM in Metalsmiths Sterling (21)

It’s meant for one thing: boldness. Marquise by Metalsmiths Sterling exudes a royal confidence in style and craftsmanship. The checker-cut stone is the star of the jewelry piece, set in precision whether as a necklace pendant or ring gem. The checkered patterns tease the eyes, drawing them deep into the gemstone’s core. The yellow, blue and green tones of the gemstones complement the sterling silvery grey set of the jewelry. Some call it dramatic, others seductive. Still others, it’s a heritage mainly because of the hallmark etched on each of these jewelry pieces. The Metalsmiths Sterling hallmark is one of the most renowned and established hallmarking standards in the world. Undoubtedly, the Marquise gemstone jewelry collection is perfect for the daring woman, who doesn’t flinch from being on the spotlight.

Natural Wonder

How about using your watch to create balance in life? That’s the core of a Philip Stein timepiece. It’s a luxury item, but its true spirit lies in its ability to channel the right frequency to your body. Its propriety technology called Natural Frequency Technology uses minute sounds that organisms—from cells, plants, and to full-grown living things including humans—emit in the natural environment. These sounds create a balance in the natural world, but the modern age has brought in artificial sounds with it; thus, disrupting the natural flow of frequencies. A Philip Stein watch acts like a natural antenna, seeking the natural frequencies and channeling it through your body. The results is an improved general well-being, a relaxing sleeping, and overall health improvement. It’s a luxury you can definitely live with.

More Creative Ways to Pop the Question

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:29:05 PM in Memoire (23)

With so many ways to pop the question, what are the best ways to tell her you want to get married? We culled more ideas in the hope to inspire the romantic in you. If you work in one company, get your staff or co-workers work out a production number and surprise her. Send her an email with a link to a web page that simply says, “Will you marry me?” in black and white. Write “urgent” on the subject line. If you’re taking a plane together any time soon, ask the stewardess if the captain will allow you to propose via the plane’s loudspeaker. Do it during those long boring hours when the plane is in mid-flight. Organize a party for friends and invite her. Make your friends wear a tee bearing one letter each from the question. She won’t get it at first, but watch her surprise as your friends start to line up in front of her to complete the proposal pitch. Any way you do it, your proposal is sure to be memorable. Top it up with a Memoire engagement ring and you’ll surely get a yes.

Best Band for Your Groom

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:27:50 PM in Martin Flyer (24)

Wedding band, that is. Give him the wedding band that best reflects his personality. Here are some quick ideas. Make sure the band fits his lifestyle. Is he into sports? Manual labor? Does he love tinkering with equipment or make his hands soiled? A durable band is your best option. Also consider his style. Most men want a simple band, but some do fancy a more elaborate make. Likewise, get a professional sizing. This is often done for free by jewelers as part of their service. Another factor is the cost. Work within the budget, but no one is stopping you from getting a luxury brand like a Martin Flyer. Consider saving up for a longer time for this luxurious brand if you feel it reflects your love and your groom (and you) deserves no less. It’s the perfect fit, so to speak, for our final tip: the bride’s and groom’s ring should be a match.

How to be Successful

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:26:31 PM in Omega (26)

Do you ever wonder if you’re on the right track to success? Surprisingly, successful people tend to think and do things in the same way, albeit with variations. One, they don’t look at the material reward like fancy cars and huge mansions; rather, they look at the achievements as goal. Two, they continuously seek to learn more. Three, they manage their time. You won’t see them doing a niche task. They rather have someone do it while they concentrate on the bigger picture. Spending too much time on details leaves you with little time to make crucial decisions later on. Four, they are emotionally prepared to deal with failures. They see failures as obstacles to be hurdled than just obstacles. And five, they often have a personal code of ethics, something that guide them through tough times. Well, there’s a sixth one actually—they’re often found to wear an Omega watch, the symbol of success for many.

The Gods Must Be Envious

The distinct ancient Greece inspiration is unmistakable. Konstantino’s line of silver and gold jewelry relives the grandeur the classical era featuring handcrafted rings, pendants, bangles, earrings, and necklaces. The design is intricate without being overbearing. There’s a subtle hand at work here, deftly creating golden etches and nooks against a silvery bed. Konstantino’s bangles reflect the signature’s bold take on ancient jewelry making, a tradition steeped in symbols and mythology. The rings are equally confident, the large cross mounted on top is reminiscent of the gods from Mt. Olympus as they sway their hands to command all being. The necklaces are hardly understated; it is perfect to highlight one’s neckline. Clearly, Konstantino is not for the shy or low-profile. It invites attention and admiration, be it god’s or mortal’s.
