The other Marco

Posted by Schwarzschild at 10:00:00 AM in Marco Moore (2)

There’s a Marco that’s handcrafted, very European, and inspired by its founder’s travels. And it isn’t the Marco you think. Marco Moore has made a mark of its own as an individual-centric brand for ladies watches that combines fashion and Swiss engineering. Marco’s style is highly fashionable, the timepieces are embellished with luxury elements like gemstones and genuine leather. The watches are designed to go with the latest trend in clothing and can go well across seasons. Marco Moore, the founder, got his inspiration from traveling to top fashion spots such as Ibiza, Milan, St. Tropez, and Geneva, and he brought his insights to New York to create the brand. Aside from stylish ladies watches, Marco Moore also offers beautiful gemstone-accented jewelry from rings to necklaces and bracelets.

Marco Moore is available at Schwarzschild's at Short Pump Town Center and Carry Town.

It’s evolution

Posted by Schwarzschild at 10:00:00 AM in Martin Flyer (24)

One reason why men give a diamond engagement ring to their loved one is to show their strength. Not in a physical sense, but in a symbolic way. If you can afford an expensive item like a Martin Flyer Solitaire, it reflects your financial strength to raise a family. This is the subtle message when you showcase a diamond ring to a woman. It isn’t materialistic, but we’re hardwired to our evolutionary instinct to survive. And one of these instincts is to ensure the male partner is strong enough to protect his family and allow them to strive for the survival of the larger community. But today, men need not muscle to show off, but stability to ensure the woman they’re marrying can strive and raise a family under his care. It may be politically incorrect, but we’re stuck with this evolutionary instinct whether we want it or not.

First date tips: impress her first then apologize later

Posted by Schwarzschild at 6:50:00 AM in Luminox (3)

You can look like someone with a taste for outdoor adventure even if you’re scared of extreme sports activities. Why would you do this? Well, for starters, you want to impress that girl next door who loves sky diving. Try wearing a Luminox watch, the signature timepiece associated with aeroplane flying, boat sailing, and, for added impact, space exploration. The watch brand’s see-through bezel and brushed stainless steel casing suggests rugged elegance, a perfect fit for someone who works on a high-profile job during week days and heads to the great outdoors on weekends. Someone like, er...you? At least initially you can weave your way to get her attention while wearing the Luminox. The drawback is, you just need to explain the truth during your first date.

Luminox is available at Schwarzschild's on Alverser Drive .

Capture the elegance of the ancient city of Jaipur

Posted by Schwarzschild at 6:00:00 AM in Marco Bicego (30)

One of our favorite Marco Bicego collections is Jaipur, the line that captures the colored gemstones native to this ancient Indian city. Jaipur was a thriving trade center during its heydays, with rajahs exhibiting colorful gemstones as prized properties. The city itself was painted in vivid colors; Jaipur must have been a postcard beauty in its heights. The ancient city inspired Marco Bicego to recreate the Maharajah royal elegance. The Jaipur collection features sapphires in different colors, as if they gleam on a sunny day and with the yellow stone handcrafted using the traditional Bolino technique as the earth toned backdrop of the city. The sapphires come in pink, green, and orange shades, an alluring remembrance of Jaipur’s golden sunset. Marco Bicego’s Jaipur is ideal for both casual days and formal evenings.

Caviar jewelry

Posted by Schwarzschild at 12:00:00 PM in Lagos (8)

What better way to represent luxury than crafting jewelry in the make of another luxurious item: caviar. Lagos thinks this is a good idea and so they created a line of stunning caviar-inspired pieces. A quick look at their bestseller lists surfaces the iconic caviar look of Lagos. You have a wide selection of bracelets in one- or two-tone material of sterling silver and 18k gold. Likewise, you can opt for a plain style or gemstone-accented piece, such as the Caviar Color Bracelet featuring yellow green quartz, rose de France, or blue topaz, among others. Then there’s the Infinity Gold Beaded X Ring, a boldly designed wearable featuring 18k gold caviar beading wraps. Our favorite? The Black and White Caviar Beaded Bracelet with Gold in ceramic white and five 18k gold stations.

Longines isn’t just a signature for luxury watches, but an iconic name-recall for horse racing, that old-world rich’s favorite playground. The Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings is to the sports what FIFA ranking is to football. The Longines-sponsored event is the richest race in the world. Also known as the World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings, this Longines event is the credible body for assessing the top horse racers. The top spot is held by American Pharoah (USA) in 2015. Horse racing is a rich man’s betting ground and it’s only fitting that Longines is sponsoring the event. The Swiss luxury watchmaker is renowned for combining opulence with function, grace and strength, which are also the characteristics required in horse racing and equestrian competition. When you wear a Longines you’re part of this exclusive club.

Beach fun with style

Posted by Schwarzschild at 9:00:00 AM in Konstantino (28)

Summer’s near and nothing says summer more than the beach. Sun-kissed white sand, salty sea, and clear blue skies, they match a white and casual wear. But it doesn’t mean you can’t wear luxury jewelry while enjoying your favorite summer destination. Not exactly because there are jewelry brands that fit a summer feel. Konstantino’s Aegean Sea is one of these. Its turquoise stone accents lend to the pieces a coastal feel and its rock crystals reflect the wave foams against a tranquil sea. It reminds oneself of the Mediterranean Greek cost, from which the collection gets its inspiration. You can wear its pendants, cuffs, rings, and necklaces on a simple beach casual, matching it with a wide-brim hat, white blouse, and nature-inspired flip flops. Beach fun has never been this stylish.

Konstantino is available at Schwarzschild's on Alverser Drive and at Short Pump Town Center.

Is it wise to go trendy?

Posted by Schwarzschild at 9:00:00 AM in Kirk Kara (29)

Engagement rings shouldn’t be trendy because trendiness implies that one day your ring may go out of style. That’s not something you want to happen with something you’re going to wear...forever. Still, many couples, especially celebrities, go for the latest fashion in engagement and wedding rings. The most popular these days? The halo setting, which showcases a single stone surrounded by smaller brilliant cut diamonds. A triple setting is also fashionably modern, featuring three stones instead of one. This style expresses more luxury; thus, it’s popular among those who want more grandeur in their wedding. Then there are the fancy cuts, such as emerald, pear, and oval. It evokes a more personal touch to the ring. But if you’re a stickler for tradition and timeless elegance, there’s always a Kirk Kara for you.

Different kind of celebrity endorsement

Posted by Schwarzschild at 10:00:55 AM in John Hardy (28)

Celebrities are natural endorsers of jewelry signatures, but one celebrity takes the endorsement to a higher level. Where most stars only wear the piece for a special occasion once, Nina Dobrev of the drama series DeGrassi has worn the same John Hardy two-tone bracelet almost daily as shown in her series of photographs. She was first seen with the John Hardy at the DirectTV Super Saturday party in San Francisco, CA. The next day, she’s seen donning the same bracelet at the Super Bowl game, supporting the Packers. A few more days, she’s spotted again wearing the same bracelet in Toronto, this time the photo was candid, proving she’s really wearing the John Hardy. Lastly, she’s again wearing it at an Oscars party on February 27. She does like the John Hardy bracelet, right? It proves the jewelry’s versatility.

Father and son

Posted by Schwarzschild at 10:00:00 AM in JB Star (2)

If you take a closer peek at famous jewelry signatures, most of them have the heritage of the father passing his passion and skills onto his son, and the son to his son, and so forth. Jewelry-making, after all, isn’t something you learn from school, the skills, techniques, and trade secrets are learned from a mentor. Who better to mentor than the father, right? In fact, if you want to know if a jewelry brand is valuable, just look at its history, and if you see a father-son tandem, most likely you’re getting a signature with heritage. For example, JB Star was founded by Rafael Fouzailoff, who was one of the largest loose diamond manufacturers in Israel in the forties. Soon, the father would pass the business to his son, who founded JB Star in 1979 as a brand that exudes dreams and romance.
