The Man with the Golden Watch

Posted by Schwarzschild at 10:00:00 AM in Omega (25)

Larger-than-life film characters beget similarly epic things like mind-blowing cars and other gadgets. Just like the iconic British spy James Bond, whose Omega Seamaster is widely-known as the official 007 timepiece. It was Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming who was responsible for introducing the Omega Seamaster as Bond’s watch in the 1995 hit, GoldenEye, the first time Pierce Brosnan assumed the role. Hemming opines that an Omega Seamaster is perfect for the Bond character, being a naval commander, diver, and a gentleman. First launched in 1948, the Seamaster is the oldest of the watch company’s existing collections; Omega is already a century old that year. Since then, the Omega Seamaster line had indubitably remained as the most popular, sporty, modern, and masculine, aside from being the most affordable of all Omega timepieces. Cheers, mate Ian (Flemming)!

The name is Bond

Posted by Schwarzschild at 1:00:00 AM in Omega (25)

The Omega Seamaster Spectre 300 is a good addition to your collectible watches. This is a watch for keeps, not something you wear until it’s worn out. Omega releases Seamaster 300 Spectre as a limited edition to celebrate the latest James Bond movie, Spectre. The watch features the iconic elements of Omega, as well as updated and innovative edges to reflect Bond’s changing characteristics, too. The suave, elegant franchise character is now more aggressive and spontaneous, the same traits we see in the Omega watch. The dials are bold and punctuated by big number lines. The strap, no longer mirroring the classy stainless steel, instead is made of synthetic strap with the “007” gun icon. Still, the watch maintains an overall elegant appeal, as a more aggressive James Bond still loves drinking martini.

The Omega owner

Posted by Schwarzschild at 8:00:00 AM in Omega (25)

Owning an Omega goes beyond having a luxurious watch brand. There’s more to wearing the watch than meets the eye. For one, the watch elevates your social class to a few privileged owners. In a world amassed in counterfeits and cheap items, Omega owners stand out. Likewise, Omega represents perfection, just as the wearer demands no less. An Omega owner is someone who has an eye for value, not just price. He or she demands precision time-keeping to keep tab of his or her busy schedule. Owning an Omega is also a fashion statement. The watch is at once elegant, intimidating, and subtle, a style fit for a CEO or any high-ranking executive. Lastly, an Omega owner is an important person, someone who is confident without being self-important, someone who has power and yields it fairly.

Seamaster 300: Spectre Limited Edition

Posted by Schwarzschild at 9:00:00 AM in Omega (25)

Omega is always one for tradition. With the upcoming release of the 24th James Bond film Spectre, the brand returns with its iconic Seamaster 300 timepiece that has been updated with a new edge of innovation and 007-esque attitude. This limited edition model is the actual one that is worn by James Bond in the new film. It comes with a stainless steel case with a black and grey striped NATO strap. This beauty is powered by the Omega Master Co-Axial calibre 8400 that is resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. James Bond has always been choosy about his watch. The Seamaster has been his choice for more than 20 years. But this is the only time that the model will be released as a limited edition. Engravings in this model includes a 007 gun logo on the strap holder plus 'SPECTRE' on the case back.

Omega and NASA

Posted by Schwarzschild at 8:00:00 AM in Omega (25)

Unknown to many, Omega didn't manufacture its Speedmaster Professional Chronograph watches specifically for NASA. The model became the official watch supplied to Apollo astronauts, including the celebrated ones like Alan Shepard, Neil Armstrong, and Mike Collins. How the Speedmaster became the preferred choice to go outer space with these men is not as expectedly awe-inspiring: NASA shopped around. The Omega model was already available in retail outlets around Houston and across the U.S. since 1957. The watches were purchased and evaluated by the space agency to withstand the space missions. In short, Omega watches had long been a standard of precision timekeeping and excellent functions long before space men found it's what they need for their tasks. That's literally an out-of-this-earth quality and craftsmanship.

Who is the Omega Ladymatic woman?

Posted by Schwarzschild at 11:00:00 AM in Omega (25)

She is an epitome of beauty like the watch's seamless lines. She's elegant and glamorous, reflecting the Omega ladies watch's diamond-studded bezel and lustrous precious metals. She is passionate in the same level the Ladymatic's watchmaker is intense about his craftsmanship. But she is also independent and self-willed, as Ladymatic is likewise self-winding and can run on its own power. She is strong, one who gave birth to her family, mirroring the watch's sturdy stainless steel and precious metal.  She enchants the people around her, as they are also dazzled by Ladymatic's captivating Supernova pattern, which comes in black, white, brown, purple, pink, mother of pearl, or shaded grey. The Ladymatic woman is a multi-tasker like the watch, which features a co-axial chronometer.

The Ladymatic by Omega

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:04:14 PM in Omega (25)

Omega first unveiled the Ladymatic in 1955. It was one of the first self-winding timepieces designed specifically for women. It was a big hit among enthusiast. Today, after more than half a century, the Ladymatic has been revived to offer women the same chance it did back in the day – own a piece that is a fashion statement equipped with the best series-production mechanical movements in the whole world. The Ladymatic can come in different cases to fit your liking. It can come in 18k red or yellow gold, stainless steel or a combination of these materials. They also come with either polished or snow-set diamond-paved bezels – your choice. And that is the great thing about the Ladymatic as it can come in many different forms – perfect for women to express themselves as individuals.

The Omega Choice

Posted by Schwarzschild at 12:57:46 PM in Omega (25)

There is arguably no other watch brand that is more recognizable than Omega. Omega has been the first choice for those who value precision and durability without sacrificing style. Britain’s Royal Flying Corps made the Omega choice in 1917. Omega watches became its official timekeepers for its combat units. In 1918, the American army followed suit. NASA also made the Omega choice and an Omega became the first watch on the Moon in 1969. And no less than the Olympics have Omega as its official timekeeping device since 1932. There is really no wonder why Omega is the most recognizable watch brand in the world. It has been worn by figures both in fiction and in real life such as James Bond, John F. Kennedy, Prince William and Buzz Aldrin. They all made the Omega choice.

Omega necklaces, antithesis to men

Posted by Schwarzschild at 3:28:56 PM in Omega (25)

You wouldn’t expect fine necklace jewelry from Omega. But, yes, the official NASA watch brand has a complete line of elegant necklaces in 18k white, rose and red gold. The Long Necklace Omega Constellation is accented by rings that run around the necklace, a take on celestial bodies in deep space. The design is simple yet it exudes a confident chic. On the other hand, the Omega Dewdrop Necklace presents a more opulent style with diamond highlights in its main pendant. Dewdrop charms dot the necklace’s length. For a classic look, the Necklace Omega Flower in red gold complements a black dress for that glamorous evening dress attire. Next time you take your wife to an Omega dealer to buy your watch, don’t say we didn’t warn you they have these alluring necklaces.

Can you marry elegance with precision engineering? With Omega you can. A masterpiece of Swiss movement technology, Omega is also the epitome of luxury, a signature reserved for the select few. People wear Omega to get accurate time all the time, as much as they wear this timepiece to show the world of their sophisticated bearing. They can’t be blamed especially if you’ve seen the Omega Constellation Double Eagle 4-Counters. It projects the elegance and royal heritage of golf, sporting a rugged elegance. This model features an 18K gold casing with sporty dials in matte black. A black rubber strap with a satin-brushed foldover clasp secures this masterpiece on your wrist, with its bottom revealing the precision clockwork inside. The millisecond movement

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:04:34 PM in Omega (25)

You might dream of an Omega watch for the luxury it represents. It’s one of the most admired top brands in the world, and to wear an Omega means you belong to an elite class. But before the luxury and glamour, Omega is first a precision instrument. It’s governed by Swiss technology that sets the standard in the science of timekeeping for centuries now. Omega, in fact, is renowned for the recent movement technology called Co-Axial, a takeoff from the traditional Swiss movement called lever escapement. The co-axial offers a more accurate timekeeping by tiny adjustments in inertia of the balance wheel. It also improves shock resistance and prevents disturbances to the balance spring. The result is an even more precise movement down to the millisecond.

Exalting sports greatness

Posted by Schwarzschild at 10:12:15 AM in Omega (25)

In line with the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games, Omega has launched three commemorative timepieces to glorify the Olympic spirit and the hospitality of the host nation. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean “Sochi 2014” is one of these three awesome limited edition watches, launched a year prior to the actual winter games. Its one-directional rotating diving bezel is equipped with a matt black ceramic ring with a drivers’ chromium nitride scale. It also has a minute hand that emits green light similar to the dot at 12 o-clock, both of which are very helpful for swimmers as this design allows the wearer to make quick glances at the time even amidst extreme competition. Rebirth of an Omega Classic

Posted by Schwarzschild at 9:15:19 AM in Omega (25)

With a fast-forward mindset for Baselworld 2014, Omega fans will likely be in an awesome treat from this watchmaking giant — the launching of the highly-anticipated rebirth of Omega’s 1969 iconic chronograph, the new Speedmaster Mark II. New exciting changes were introduced for this rebirth, spearheaded by the transition from Calibre 861 to the in-house co-axial 3330 automatic movement as well as a tachymeter scale illuminated from underneath by Super-LumiNova, which is a first in Speedmaster collection. Most the updates were made from the inside but what’s likely to catch the attention of Omega enthusiasts is the bold retention of the tonneau-style case for a retro effect, thus giving both a classic look with state-of-the-art watchmaking technology.

A Luxurious Lady

Posted by Schwarzschild at 7:57:11 AM in Omega (25)

Omega is one of the rare luxury Swiss watch brands that fuse precision technology with ultimate luxury. As an antidote to its line of masculine elegance, the timepiece signature also keeps one for the ladies: the Ladymatic. Originally launched in the fifties, it’s one of the pioneers in creating a self-winding watch for ladies. The lines are graceful as the accents are luxurious. Its 34 mm case is engraved in 18k red or yellow gold that makes this Omega a more glamorous cousin of the gentleman’s watches. Furthermore, the Ladymatic is set with diamond-paved bezels with a mother-of-pearl backdrop in pink, blue or shaded grey hue. It is protected by sapphire crystal and distinguished by the Omega Co-Axial calibre 8521 feature. When it comes to luxury and precision timekeeping, the Ladymatic is easily one of the best in its category.

Space can freak you out

Posted by Schwarzschild at 7:09:51 AM in Omega (25)

Omega is the official NASA timepiece. That hardly rings a bell for many until Sandra Bulllock showed us how life in outer space really is in the movie, Gravity. When the tiniest metal can suddenly become a deadly bullet as inertia hurls it across space, when the power of gravitational force can suck the power out of a 7-ton satellite, when you’re almost helpless being thrown up and down, sideways and in almost any conceivable directions, such is the hazards of outer space. Not the least the exit and entry from earth is one of the most extreme conditions an astronaut faces every space mission. It’s a far cry from the quiet, Zen-like floating space idea that we have from down here. If an Omega can survive outer spaces’ extreme forces, what more on earth?

A Watch above anything on earth

Posted by Schwarzschild at 3:38:31 PM in Omega (25)

If you think it’s all peace and quiet up there in the outer space, go watch Gravity, a film that depicts the perils faced by astronauts every time they venture in that frontier. The pressure is punishing, and even the tiniest piece of metal can suddenly turn to deadly shrapnel. The more you imagine the harsh conditions up there, the more you get to appreciate how an Omega watch can take this punishment and still deliver accurate timekeeping. The watch has been one of the most critical instruments that astronauts have relied on to conduct space missions. Its co-axial technology, state-of-the-art mechanical craftsmanship, and not the least it’s impressively nice to wear, have placed Omega as one of the highest standards in Swiss watchmaking. When you wear an Omega, you don’t only wear a luxury brand, but a timepiece that is literally above any watch on earth.

How to be Successful

Posted by Schwarzschild at 2:26:31 PM in Omega (25)

Do you ever wonder if you’re on the right track to success? Surprisingly, successful people tend to think and do things in the same way, albeit with variations. One, they don’t look at the material reward like fancy cars and huge mansions; rather, they look at the achievements as goal. Two, they continuously seek to learn more. Three, they manage their time. You won’t see them doing a niche task. They rather have someone do it while they concentrate on the bigger picture. Spending too much time on details leaves you with little time to make crucial decisions later on. Four, they are emotionally prepared to deal with failures. They see failures as obstacles to be hurdled than just obstacles. And five, they often have a personal code of ethics, something that guide them through tough times. Well, there’s a sixth one actually—they’re often found to wear an Omega watch, the symbol of success for many.

In Good Company

Posted by Schwarzschild at 12:33:40 PM in Omega (25)

Who wear an Omega? Apparently, Hollywood. Let’s pick some memorable movies and TV shows that have featured this aspirational brand in an incidental role. We know James Bond loves his Omega, but so does NASA. In Apollo 13, Omega is shown worn by Tom Hanks and the other astronauts on board the space flight, depicting the watch as the official timepieces for NASA in real life. Omega has also graced numerous X-Files episodes, notably Dana Scully’s 18k Gold Omega Deville Symbol. Similarly, Will Smith wore an Omega DeVille Prestige in Enemy of the State. An Omega Seamaster Professional Diver is also featured in the series Jag, as well worn by Nigel Marven in The Discovery Channel’s nature documentary Nigel’s Wild, Wild World. If you wear an Omega you’re definitely in good company.

Time is money

Posted by Schwarzschild at 10:54:23 AM in Omega (25)

When you own an Omega, not only do you own one of the most precise timepieces in the world. You own a statement: as much a fashion exclamation as something that defines your character. An Omega is precision engineered to remain on time perpetually. It’s the same time-keeping that astronauts had relied on in the moon; that divers depended on in the dark ocean depths. The same precision timing is what you want to keep you tab of your busy schedule, while making a strong statement that you are a man of importance.  When you require that everything runs at clockwork precision to operate your businesses, you turn to Omega. It’s the timepiece that a select few wear because these people know that time is money.

For those who tame the seas

Posted by Schwarzschild at 3:18:45 PM in Omega (25)

Men who love the sea are by no means ordinary blokes. These men are known for their rugged yet passionate nature as reflected in their love of the vast blue waters. They also belong to the lot that is not easily swayed by the rigors of the ocean. They can take punishment from the most ravaging storms, more often than not coming up on top, like triumphant lion tamers savoring the victory that comes with the creature's submission. For such men, luxury watchmaker Omega has created the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Collection. This line of timepieces is endowed with a GMT hand that rotates the dial once every 24 hours, always ensuring accurate time in two different timezones. For that needed style, these watches come in 18K red gold or stainless steel, matched and accented by either a stainless bracelet or a leather strap. This collection is truly for men who seek to tame the seas.

Heaven sent

Posted by Schwarzschild at 12:12:27 PM in Omega (25)

The vastness of the heavens has always been an inspiration to man, with the nighttime sky serving as a beacon to all who choose to heed what it had to say. Such was the case in the coming of the Christian messiah, when a lone star guided three magi to a baby in a lonesome manger. The stars were also known to foretell events, both good and bad, serving as warnings of relevant things to come. Omega honors these heavenly wonders with its Omega Constellation collection. This line of timepieces is designed specifically for the gentlemen of today. It draws inspiration from the classic Constellation Manhattan, first released 30 years ago. The watches feature the signature claws first sported by their predecessor. They are also engineered to give the wearer optimal comfort.

Time for the ladies

Posted by Schwarzschild at 10:21:30 AM in Omega (25)

Somebody once said grace is what sets ladies apart from women, the true female counterpart of the gentleman. The word ‘lady’ was once used exclusively to denote women of high social stature but it eventually came to be used to refer to all adult females. For the English, the “lady,’ for centuries, was used as a term of address for a woman whose name is not known. Today’s women, having retained much of the excellent qualities of their predecessors are viewed as deserving of the title. Omega continues to honor this tradition with its relaunch of the Ladymatic wristwatch. This timepiece is truly reminiscent of the ladies of the past albeit specifically made for today’s elegant woman. Ladymatic comes in 18K gold and stainless steel cases, made sturdy with the addition of a titanium inner casebody. It also boasts of the smallest automatic movement that Omega has ever designed. While reasonably priced, Ladymatic is truly for those who value elegance and functionality.

007 at 50

Posted by Schwarzschild at 9:20:46 AM in Omega (25)

Author Ian Fleming’s fictional character James Bond is known for his bravery, chivalry and love of beautiful women. But Her Majesty’s Secret Service agent 007 is mostly known for the gadgets that he uses during his missions. With the exception of standard issue guns, many of these take the form of innocent-looking devices such as pens, shoes and of course, time pieces. Bond’s watches, with their concealed functions such as laser beams and Geiger counters, have saved his life countless times. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the hero’s motion picture franchise, Omega has come up with its James Bond 007 50th Anniversary Collector’s Piece Seamaster Co-Axial 300M. Encased in stainless steel, the watch features the company’s patented screw-and-pin stainless steel bracelet.  This collector’s item is a befitting tribute to the fabled spy master.
