Lots of excitement coming from SIHH 2019, and one designer that never disappoints is Panerai. This year, Panerai has once again stopped people in their tracks with the new Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry.
SIHH, Geneva's Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, has only 35 exhibitors. But don’t let its size fool you. This is one of the most prestigious watch-fairs on the planet. 20,000 invite-only attendees gather to get a glance at 2019’s top timepieces. This event runs through January 19th, and there’s already been a lot of talk about one piece: the new Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry.
This is a new version of its Submersible Chrono made in collaboration with French free-diving champ Guillaume Néry. It’s one of those pieces where one can rightfully say “…if it can live up to the rigors of a free-diving champion, it can withstand anything I throw at it!”
The watch is built with a water-resistance rating of 300m/1,000ft and has a unidirectional rotating bezel in titanium with an applied blue ceramic disk. It’s made for a man who dresses boldly and doesn’t hold back from sports.
It’s a comfortable watch that sits nicely on the wrist with a blue rubber strap. The hours and minutes are displayed centrally as are the chronograph seconds and minutes. You also have a 3-day power reserve making the Guillaume Néry Edition always ready for action.
Engraved on the solid screw case back is a rendering of the watch’s namesake free diving, an engraving of his signature, and the depths of his final record dive: 126 meters…all in one single breath.
You don’t have to be that level of athlete to appreciate all the Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry offers. But based on the reaction at this week’s SIHH 2019, this is a timepiece that just may challenge you to reach for new heights (or depths)!
