The Seamaster Diver 300M by Omega enjoys a legendary following. Since 1993 the timepiece has celebrated the spirit of the ocean. After 25 years, the Seamaster 300M is keeping some original design elements and undergoing a full makeover. With a new certified movement, the use of ceramic, and a redesigned escape valve, the Seamaster Diver 300M has received a modern update to reestablish its place in the modern Omega lineup.

The Seamaster is powered by the Master Chronometer Calibre 8800 which is METAS-certified (Swiss Institute of Metrology) and a substantial upgrade from the caliber 2500 found in previous Seamaster models. The co-axial automatic movement is highly accurate and resists magnetic fields. The inclusion of the Calibre 8800 marks a continued trend by Omega of phasing out older movements in favor of modern in-house movements. Featuring a 55-hour power reserve and vacillating at 3.5 Hz, the Seamaster Diver 300M is housed in a 42mm case which is slightly larger than the older 41mm models. While the skeleton hands and the turned lugs have remained part of the design for the Seamaster, the helium escape valve has been updated to a modern cone shape. The most substantial update is found in the new ceramic bezel and dial. Resistant to fading and nearly scratch proof, the use of ceramic provides a high-end look to the Seamaster that resonates well with Omega fans. The ceramic bezel utilizes Ceragold™ or white enamel inlays to mark the distinctive Seamaster style. The wave pattern makes a return to the dial with a laser-engraved design cut into the ceramic. The dial is updated with a new placement of the date window, now appearing at six o’clock and featuring a color-matched date wheel.

With the updated movement, use of ceramic, and fourteen different iterations to choose from, the Omega Seamaster demonstrates a great deal of craftsmanship and resources on behalf of Omega in their entry-level offering. The wave motif carries over to the reverse, where a sapphire case back reveals the 8800 caliber co-axial movement. Available in stainless steel with black, blue, or silver dials, the Seamaster 300M features water resistance to 300m. Finished with a matching stainless-steel bracelet or integrated rubber strap, both options close with the fold over extending dive clasp. Every piece of the Seamaster 300M has been updated, from subtle changes to the skeleton hands to the raised indexes filled with Super-LumiNova. With a feel that punches above its weight class, the updated Seamaster is back to stay as a focal point in the Omega lineup. Long live the Seamaster.
